Staff Positions at Blue Star

Blue Star has six independent camps on one main campus. The camps are divided by grade and for some, by gender.

Juniors

Campers entering the first, second or third grade. Juniors is a co-ed camp.

Pioneer Boys and Pioneer Girls

Campers entering the fourth, fifth or sixth grade.

Senior Boys and Senior Girls

Campers entering the seventh, eight or ninth grade.

Teen Village

Campers entering the tenth eleventh, or twelfth grade. Teen Village is a co-ed camp. *You must be over the age of 21 to be a counselor for Teen Village campers.

Each of our six camps has its own leadership team consisting of one Camp Leader and up to three Unit Leaders. Each camp also has its own counseling staff that lives in bunks with the children. A counselor's main responsibility to is to guide and nurture campers throughout the day, while our highly skilled activity specialists teach campers in their specific areas of expertise, be it kayaking, pottery, mountain biking, or yoga. Specialists live in shared staff quarters. We also have administrative and support staff roles available in areas such as maintenance, kitchen, camp store, and the main office.

The schedule assures that all American staff are treated equitably. Please note, THE SALARY SCHEDULE IS NOT NEGOTIABLE. The BASE SALARY should be used as a starting figure, adding increments to this figure from the explanation listed below. All increments will be paid only if the specific conditions are met and completed.

The Salary Schedule for American Cabin Counselors does not apply to staff hired through BUNAC, CAMP AMERICA, CCUSA, CAMP LEADERS or any other international placement agency. Fees and salaries will be paid for those employees as stipulated by the agency involved.
